Meet the ShowOFF 2019 Laureates!

564 artists from 54 countries, 644 projects and 8,680 submitted photographs: the best artists, laureates of the 11th edition of the ShowOFF Section, have already been selected. See who they are!

After two weeks of individual work, and following intense and fruitful discussions, the jury composed of Monika Szewczyk-Wittek, Marga Rotteveel, Łukasz Rusznica and Michał Szlaga selected eight laureates with whom they will work during the coming months with a view to creating a collective exhibition of the ShowOFF Section. The selected artists are: Henri Airo, Finland (curator: Marga Rotteveel), Tatiana Bondareva, Russia (curator: Monika Szewczyk-Wittek), Mikhail Bushkov, Russia/Switzerland (curator: Łukasz Rusznica), Jan Jurczak, Poland (curator: Monika Szewczyk-Wittek), Gregor Kallina, Austria (curator: Marga Rotteveel), Michał Patycki, Poland (curator: Michał Szlaga), Zosia Promińska, Poland (curator: Michał Szlaga), Florian Spring, Switzerland (curator: Łukasz Rusznica).

Both the curators and organizers believe that the works to be shown to the public during the Krakow Photomonth Festival speak of important current matters and for this, they use beautiful visual language.

Katarzyna Wieczorek, the coordinator of the ShowOFF Section: “Each edition of the ShowOFF Section is exceptional. That is why it couldn’t be different also this time. Every year we are impressed by the increasing diversity, number and subjects of the projects submitted to ShowOFF, not only from Poland but also from very distant corners of the world. The open call to ShowOFF 2019 was closed with an outstanding result of almost 650 applications sent to us via the Picter platform from such countries like Equador, Iran, Japan, Philippines or New Zealand. The curators had a very difficult task!”

Dear laureates, we congratulate you and wish you successful work on the final shape of your respective exhibitions!
