The Foundation for Visual Arts and Krakow Photomonth once again invite you to participate in the international competition for emerging visual artists. The ShowOFF Section is one of the main parts of the festival’s programme. Apply and become part of the platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences at an international scale.
ShowOFF is an open-call competition and part of the Krakow Photomonth Festival. It is also a multi-level platform for exchanging experiences that invites debuting artists from all over the world who use the medium of photography. For 20 years, we have been supporting people who are at the beginning of their career path in the world of art, commercial and creative activities, or who have been creating for many years but have not yet had the opportunity to present their work to a wider public, meaning, their projects have not participated in gallery and institutional exhibitions.
The core of the ShowOFF competition is assembled of a group of curators bringing together outstanding figures from the world of photography, art, publishing and creative activities. The curators will select six winners from among all the entries in an open contest. Each winner receives their own budget for the production of the exhibition, as well as technical and production support. The winning projects will be presented in the form of six individual exhibitions during the 21st edition of Krakow Photomonth Festival.
We want to initiate building a creative relationship that will develop over several months of cooperation between the curatorial group and the people selected in the competition. Curators will individually guide participants through all stages of the implementation of an artistic project and exhibition, from developing the concept and choosing preferable materials, through the selection of formats and materials (papers, frames, etc.), the creation of texts accompanying the exhibition, to the final arrangement of the space.
We are open to receive submissions from photographers as well as artists involved with interdisciplinary projects. Once again, we offer the possibility of submitting two projects, which will be reviewed by the jury. This is beneficial not only for undecided artists, but also for invited curators, who will be able to learn more about the work of each artist. From among all submissions, a curatorial team consisting of: Elisa Medde, Agnieszka Sadowska, Rob Bremner, Piotr Niepsuj, Robert Kuśmirowski and duo Agnieszka Pindera & Daniel Muzyczuk, will select six most interesting projects which will be presented as a solo exhibition during Krakow Photomonth 2024, the festival’s 21th edition.
