Ewa Doroszenko, Jacek Doroszenko

Ewa Doroszenko and Jacek Doroszenko’s audiovisual project consists of video and photography works created as part of Artist-in-Residence programmes in Greece, Lithuania, and Portugal.

In their works, Ewa and Jacek examine how digital images and the latest technologies mediate perception of the natural world. Fascinated by modern information tools and their massive potential for shaping our ways of life, the artists seek to capture the atmosphere of a simultaneously physical and virtual present tense. Studying the textures of landscapes and surfaces, natural and simulated, they emphasise the role of photography in navigating today’s world.

Using Google Street View, popular computer games, travel guides, and various online resources, the artists test how contemporary digital culture impacts perception of landscape. In addition to the visual layer, they also explore the sound environment, assembling recorded fragments into meditative musical compositions. Through multiplicative processing of material collected during ‘online’ and ‘offline’ excursions, Ewa Doroszenko and Jacek Doroszenko seek to develop a unique itinerary for artistic expression attuned to the digital age.

Ewa Doroszenko is an intermedia artist and a doctor in fine arts. She is the winner of multiple international competitions, including Fait Gallery’s PREVIEW in Brno (2016), docphoto magazine’s DEBUTS (2018), and the Lithuanian Photographers Association DEBUT (2018); and was a finalist at the Noorderlicht International Photo Festival (2021), Kranj Foto Fest (2021), FIF – International Festival of Photography of Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2020), Athens Digital Arts Festival (2020), GENERATE!
